I received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. I worked as a mechanical engineer for upwards of ten years, which has helped me to understand how study and academics figure into achievement and success in higher ed and employment. I've come to realize how interconnected seemingly unrelated subject areas like the sciences and the humanities are. Presently, I'm pursuing a degree in Education, with the goal of becoming a math teacher at the high school level. My areas of expertise are mathematics and science, but I'm also proficient at test preparation in reading and comprehension. Education requires in-depth study, as well as organization and time management. When tutoring, I make sure to help students develop helpful studying and organizing skills, so that students learn how to manage their time between academics, leisure, and other responsibilities. My specialties in math and science are Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Calculus (many levels), Finite Mathematics, Algebra (many levels), Geometry, Physical Sciences, Technology and Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Computer Engineering, to name a few. I'm also adept at helping students with test prep for the SATs, ACTs, and Advanced Placement Calculus. In my free time, I love to read, sail, and bike.
